A very unlucky dad-to-be proved that paternal instincts do not come with an innate understanding of fire safety after nearly setting his backyard ablaze in a gender reveal gone wrong.

In the now-viral clip, the future father can be seen shooting what appears to be a bazooka full of blue streamers into the air, informing partygoers that their child would be a boy. But as the confetti began raining down upon guests, one landed in the midst of several nearby power lines, sending essentially a stroke of lightning into the ground as it fell back down into the grass.

Though it appears no one was seriously injured in the ordeal, the new dad most definitely learned a very important lesson about shooting projectiles near electric lines — don’t … unless you want to reveal your next event as a funeral.
